24 August 2016 Australia Tasmania – Business Migrants Assistance Pilot Scheme

The Tasmanian Government’s Department of State Growth, Business and Skilled Migration has asked the MIA to provide this updated information to Members on business migration.

The program is designed to assist migrants who are seasoned businesspersons in setting up their business in Tasmania. Knowing that Australian business operating environment is often very different from migrants’ home countries, the Tasmanian Government offers complimentary one-on-one commercial assistance to business migrants who intend to invest over $1 million to setup their business in Tasmania. Details of the program are attached herewith.

In addition, to encourage potential applicants, the Tasmanian Government adopt a very liberal and straightforward approach with state nominations. With most Subclass 188 and 132 visa streams, as long as the applicants satisfy DIBP’s requirements, we will be happy to nominate applicants. With Subclass 132 Significant Business History stream (A), we request an investment of $1.5 million or above in Tasmania.
